My Students

My 5th grade classroom is full of diversity and curious minds. They represent countries from all over the world with more than 10 languages spoken within the classroom walls.

Our classroom is a community that continues to grow stronger each day.

My students are creative, hands-on learners, who are eager to learn. They are avid readers, who enjoy taking a journey with a new character; they enjoy challenging themselves with math problems, and getting to perform hands-on science experiments. They are simply kids, being kids, while learning how to be better people and about the world around them.

My Project

Creating a learning environment that will fit all the individual needs of my students is my number one goal as a teacher. Flexible seating allows students to take control of their own learning.

When getting to choose their own seats, students are more engaged, less disruptive to their peers, and enjoy having a voice in their seating.

75% of my students are English Language Learners while the rest have their own specific needs. Keeping students' attention throughout the day can be difficult, and studies show students work best while moving. Therefore, wobble stools will give students a chance to fulfill their needs during the school day, and will be able to concentrate in new ways.
