My Students
"Sitting still is overrated. It makes sense for the opera or for meditating, but in most classrooms and child care centers, it's given far more honor than it deserves. Children need to move."
~Tom Hunter, National Association for the Education of Young Children.
My students are athletes, leaders, inventors, creators, dreamers, and "wobblers".
These 12 Wobble chairs will help my students move and complete work while doing so! What a fantastic way to accomplish two things at once, and staying safe while doing it.
My Project
"Wobble, wobble, wobble"! The wobble seat helps develop postural stability by strengthening core muscles. This will improve posture while sitting and allow my students the ability to move. The rocking motion provides input for the nervous system, specifically the vestibular system, that can be calming and organizing for the brain. This type of input will help students pay attention in a subtle way.
Allowing my students the ability to make choices has been very successful in their academics.
I have offered choice with students ranging from Pre-K to Second grade, and the outcome and participation is awesome! I would love the opportunity to add sitting choices to my classroom environment.
