My Students

My students are amazing. As a first-year teacher I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but these kiddos put my mind at ease the moment that I met them. We are in a rural community nestled between the beaches and peanut farms. In addition, we have a large number of moms and dads that are serving our country. We are uniquely diverse.

We are also a Title One Targeted Assist School which means that we have many of our students on free or reduced lunch, but not enough to qualify for funding. So, in order to provide resources, we have to dip into our personal accounts. As a new teacher, there are so many things I would love for my children. I am committed to providing opportunities for my enthusiastic learners. My ultimate goal is to inspire my students to want to dig deeper, and to motivate them to be the best version of themselves. Teaching is my calling; of that, I have no doubt.

My Project

My students are so bright and ready to learn - I'd love to give them a classroom that is most conducive to their way of learning. A rug will be perfect to encourage sustained silent reading. This, accompanied by floating candles and LED candles will truly engulf my kiddos into the world of Harry Potter.

My classroom is decorated in a Hogwarts theme to encourage teamwork, community, and learning. These items would help bring the Wizarding World to life for my students right here in their classroom.

Our classroom is very organized. One thing my students need is their own mailbox. This allows them to keep track of their assignments and take-home items without getting them lost in their desks or cubbies!
