My Students

Preschool is one of the most important developmental stages for children. Within this first year of school, students acquire many skills that create the foundation for further learning. Children at this age are learning to increase self awareness and independence as well as forming new relationships with others.

Communication and socialization are two main goals in the preschool classroom.

These skills are mostly taught through various types of play. My classroom's main goal is to promote independence by creating an atmosphere that is student directed and open to exploration.

My Project

Children of the preschool age are learning to explore themselves and their environment more independently and with more awareness. Within the classroom, teachers should provide children with the materials necessary to enhance self-awareness and personal growth.

Musical instruments and self-awareness books are great tools to have available within the classroom.

I always make sure to have a music and movement center within my classroom. I have found that when provided with musical instruments, movement and mindfulness techniques, the children are more apt to grow and explore more effectively with their peers and have a better sense of self.

We have found over the years, that the students engage in meaningful conversation and enhance pretend play while playing in this center. These materials would help make the music and movement center more enjoyable and create more experiences for my preschool class.
