My Students

Pencils, glue, scissors, crayons and paper are basic school supplies that every student should have available in the beginning of each school year! My special needs students have various disabilities that they have to face on a day to day basis. These supplies could make a difference in their lives.

My class is made up of 12 special needs learners.

They are in the first grade and their ages range from six to seven- years-old. The disabilities that they cope with include learning disabilities, speech and language impairments, autism, and emotional disturbances. Our school is a public elementary school in New York. The neighborhood is rich in culture and diversity, but poor in crime and violence. It is important that when they come to school they have the right tools they need to succeed right at their fingertips!

My Project

These resources will definitely change my students' lives for the better. They will be able to write about their summer vacation with the pencils provided from this project. They can then illustrate their writing by using the crayons or paint sets provided from this project. My students will be able to explore math concepts and participate in interactive lessons by utilizing the write and write pockets and dry-erase markers. My students will also benefit from the art supplies such as construction paper, glue, scissors and colored tissue paper. They will work cooperatively and in small groups on various classroom projects together.

Donations to my request for supplies will make a difference in these students' lives, because in many cases their parents do not have the means to provide these things for them.

They will be able to act creatively in our classroom, because of these donations. A creative mind can open up an amazing world to these children. If they have the right supplies, I believe that the sky is the limit!
