This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 3rd grade students live in a low-income neighborhood near the Los Angeles airport, under the flight path, to be exact. The vast majority of them participate in the free or reduced lunch program and are English Language Learners. Many of them do not have the access to technology at home that other students in neighboring districts have. My wonderful and enthusiastic friends are eager to learn and deserve to have the same opportunities for learning that their counterparts nearby have.

My Project

Many of my students do not have the access to technology at home that other students in neighboring districts have. I would love to be able to provide them with the opportunity to use technology to improve their reading skills!

By adding an iPad mini to our classroom, my students can have access to some fabulous reading programs that will help them develop the skills they need to be confident readers in two languages!!

While my more independent students develop their reading skills, I can work with my struggling readers to give them the individual attention they so desperately need.
