My Students

In my 8th grade classroom , we are working hard to learn Algebra I a grade earlier. I love how amazing my students are in having inner motivation to learn, challenge themselves and push themselves to do better every day by learning from their mistakes. They are creative, bright and supportive of each other. They strive for excellence academically, socially and emotionally. Do you remember your math teacher writing on the entire black board and erasing it with the other hand? My students will greatly benefit from seeing their work on a dry/erase board.

My Project

My goal is to build a classroom that is rich in conversation, collaboration, and community. From a morning message that greets my students as they walk in the door, to shared readings, poems, songs, and math talks, a new easel will allow all of my students to engage equally with new academic content. This easel is mobile and will allow me to hang chart paper and pocket charts, as well as write messages. With a new easel, my students will be able to come up and share their ideas, discover new information, and add on or ask questions of their classmates. Over time, they will be able to pass the pen to one another and take charge of their own independent learning.
