My Students

I teach a highly diverse group of students in my elective Anatomy class. Many are English language learners who come from a disadvantaged background. They have had limited opportunities to explore science through dissections and other hands-on laboratory experiments.

My students are intrinsically motivated and curious.

Many have expressed an interest in pursuing a career in health and science. They shine when given adequate support to persist through challenges. Please consider helping my students obtain these pressure cuffs so they can learn science by doing!

My Project

Cardiovascular system is a large unit in our curriculum. My students learn about the heart, blood vessels, and blood. A lesson that students typically enjoy is one which we explore the topic of blood pressure and the danger of having a high or low blood pressure. The pressure cuffs we currently have in our school are more ten years old. Many are inaccurate and no longer inflate. Students have to share one pressure cuff among a group of four.

Having access to working blood pressure cuffs would allow my students to use their knowledge of science to assess their own health.
