My Project
Join us on a magical journey to build a calming, supportive space for students to manage emotions, reduce anxiety, and reset. I have the privilege of working with incredible students who are bright, curious, kind, and resilient. Many of them are navigating not only academics, but also big emotions, personal challenges, and growing social pressures. They show up every day, often carrying more than we see, and they deserve support that meets them right where they are. This project is the final project of a three-part series to transform our space into a haven of emotional support and wellness.
Wish #3: The Calming Cave focuses on creating a welcoming space in the counseling office for students to relax and self-regulate.
For some students, the counseling office is the only space in the school where they feel truly safe. I want to turn a corner of that space into a calming cave—a place that’s warm, soft, and peaceful.
This third wish adds comfort to the room with floor cushions, a weighted lap pad for grounding, and a sound machine for calming background noise.
These items create a sensory-safe corner where students can reset during a hard moment or simply take a breath before returning to class.
The physical environment impacts how we feel. With this calm, cozy space, students will know that it’s okay to ask for help, and that this is a place where they’ll always be welcomed just as they are.
