My Project

The holidays can be a tough time for both adults and children alike, and each year WMS hosts a holiday store to help students combat some of those winter blues.

Columbus City Schools functions under the PBIS framework, which is a system that stands for positive behavioral interventions and supports.

This system is a research-backed method for providing students with school expectations and encouraging them to follow those expectations as opposed to being based on punishment for wrongdoing.

Our school has many PBIS events to reward students for their positive behaviors, and one of those is our Winter Wonderland Holiday Store! The way it works is students will be called down based on their GPA (students with a 4.0 will have first pick and so on) and they use points acquired from school staff to "buy" items from the store for themselves, their family members, and friends for the holidays. Students are also able to have an adult gift wrap the items for them. The points students use are based on staff member reward for their positive behavior, academic successes, and overall respect and attitude shown. Students must know the number of points they have and must budget for this store as well as for other things they can "purchase" throughout the school year as this is not the only event.

In order to have a holiday store, there must be items in that store for students to be able to purchase with their points! This list of items will go directly to this store, and each item is based on what items were popular during the 2023 Winter Wonderland Store. Any leftover items will be used as prizes for students!
