Winter Wonderland Adventures

Help me give my students Arctic animal magnetic tiles, ice shaped building blocks, and polar animals for our upcoming winter unit.

My Project

Winter provides the perfect opportunity to integrate fun seasonal activities into lessons for my Pre-K students. Polar animals are fascinating creatures that captivate the imagination of children. They survive harsh environments and live fascinating lives. Penguins live in Antarctica (to the south) and polar bears live in the Arctic (to the north). Polar animals have been a favorite topic in my classroom in the past. Students love learning about animals from all over the world, and the polar regions are no exception! I know by adding polar animal materials to my classroom the students will be more engaged in learning about penguins, polar bears and other polar animals.

Adding arctic themed activities into my classroom will be a great way to get little ones excited about learning by exploring the habitats, behaviors, and characteristics of these magnificent animals.

The Arctic Magna-Tile set will be the perfect STEM toys for my Pre-K students. Magna-Tiles encourage screen-free learning and creativity, and they also help with dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Students will use them to explore shapes, symmetry, area and perimeter, angles, and more. They'll also learn and experiment with the differences and similarities between magnetic figurines and figurines without magnets when used with our Arctic Magna-Tiles. With the jumbo transparent ice building blocks that look like chunks of ice, children will love stacking them to make castles and igloos.

I will also read books about arctic animals at circle time and then during learning centers they can play with the polar animal building toys and props to make what they have learned come to life! As we learn about the different arctic animals we will read books, sing songs, and create art work. From creating a STEM challenge using engineering to recreating habitats for arctic animals, the possibilities are endless.
