Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Most of my students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and they are a mixture of Hispanic and African American students. They are also students who have special needs.
Parents do their best to provide the bare essentials that their kids need throughout the school year, but many times that is all that they can give them.
Many of the families have at least four kids in the school. Due to the current circumstances, it is a lot to ask a family to purchase materials when some of them most likely may have lost their jobs. Although the parents and the school community do their best to provide for the children, with the fear of what the future may bring, and the loss of jobs it will be harder to provide them with tools for learning.
My Project
Games will provide much-needed social time. As a result of Covid, children have suffered mentally from the lack of social interaction. During inclement weather, children are kept inside and do not have anything to help them socially interact.
Games will provide a much-needed resource to help students interact with each other and help students who are suffering from anxiety and depression.
The games will also be used during our fun Fridays. On Fridays, we take our students outside for an extra recess time. As the weather changes students will use the games on Fun Fridays as a way to provide time for them to have fun.
