My Project

In today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape, it is imperative to equip our students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the 21st century. As we witness a surge in automation, artificial intelligence, and robotics across various industries, it becomes essential to incorporate robotics technology into the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) classroom. Robotics brings real-world relevance, multi-disciplinary learning, career development, and technological literacy to our students and school.

Since some of the current high school STEM classes have as many as 18 students, the current inventory does not allow for the large classes to take advantage of the current kits effectively.

The number of kits the STEM Lab has does not allow the capacity to extend this learning opportunity to the elementary students, whose classes have as many as 24 students at one time. The purchase of another Hummingbird Robotics Classroom Flock would double the amount of our current materials, which could potentially extend to 24 students at a time if students were put into groups of three.

The Hummingbird Kits are composed of lights, sensors, and motors which allow students to build a robot out of any materials. The Hummingbirds are reusable, and allow for the flexibility of creations only limited to the student’s imagination. With the same kit, students can create a model of the human arm, build an autonomous rover, create a pinball machine, or create a moving hula dancer from recycled supplies coupled with the components contained in the kits. These specific robotics kits can span from Pre-K to 12th grade. Beginners can build and program a robot in minutes, but can continue learning advanced engineering and programming for years. These materials are a wise investment, because the components will extend and grow with the STEM program over time.
