We have the best students at my school! They represent a variety of ability, income, and interest levels, but they are all amazing students! They are excited to be at school to learn and to be among their friends. They are welcoming and kind and, because we are a small school, they all know one another. We're all a tight-knit group!
Our students are curious about the world around them.
They want to know more about people and places, the natural world, and how things work. They will observe frogs and lizards on the playground, bring in insects to look under a magnifying glass, and take apart toys to see how they work whenever given the chance.
My Project
These books will help our students look through "windows" and see characters who live different lives than what our children live. These characters include children who have learning or physical disabilities, children who have to take a journey to a safer place, and children who suffer through poverty.
It is through these journeys that our students will learn about the plight of others and, hopefully, come to find a part of themselves.
Through this discovery, my hope is that they will realize that we are not so different after all.
