Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The challenge facing my students today is not having computer and Internet access at home and in school. The computers in the school are in various stages of disrepair and many of my students come from homes where they do not have a home computer.

Seventy five percent of the school's population are of Hispanic or Latin American descent in a Title 1 school.

My students have a voracious appetite for learning. They are great kids with bright futures ahead of them, and I want to provide them with every opportunity to do well

My Project

My students need a BlackBerry tablet and case. Being connected to the global community via the Internet with resources and research materials at their fingertips would enhance my students' learning experiences in the classroom tremendously. Literature is often influenced by the authors personal experience, background, and history. In teaching literature, I like to incorporate information from all of these areas to provide a backdrop to frame the literature for students through research done by the students in the classroom.

I think the inequity that my students face by not having access to working computers and the Internet is unacceptable.

This is why I bought one computer, speakers, and headphones with my own money for students to use in class. Unfortunately, it's not enough, especially for my English Language Learners who need the extra support. Please help! Thank you for making my students' learning a priority.
