My Students

My students are brilliant, kindhearted, ambitious dreamers. They never give up and our classroom motto is "YET". They can't do it...yet. They haven't learned it...yet. They strive for excellence. It is impressive given any student especially their age, but it is also worth noting that these students attend a Title One school. The school has a very high number of students receiving free lunch and breakfast and most of them live below the poverty line. Their school is also considered a FOCUS school due to low test scores and a lack of parental involvement as a whole. Any average person could make predetermined judgments about these students, but you would honestly have to meet them to believe them! They have so much spunk, motivation, talent, humor, drive, and skill that I am in awe daily! They deserve THE WORLD!

My Project

These books will benefit my students in more ways than one! Not only are my students going to be exposed to a Latin-american culture by reading this book, but they will also increase their love for learning, reading and be able to make the connections across curriculum when they relate the new information they learned to social studies content! My students come from all different backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses, races, religions and cultures and this book celebrates that! It is always a struggle to find novels that are both on the students' reading level and that students will enjoy but this one will be a sure hit!
