Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are full of curiosity. They love to work as a community and thrive when they are asked to come up with solution to challenges. Our classroom charter says they want to feel accomplished, safe to take risks, and celebrated. With your help they will be able to build their self-esteem and broaden their horizons.

Many of my students are new to our country and they need to acquire the skills that will make them successful in their new home.

Like many immigrants, they have settled in a vibrant city that presents many challenges. They are battling poverty every day and it's a fight they must win.

My Project

A visit to the Bronx Zoo will bring to life topics we have discussed in our classroom, such as adaptation and animal behavior.

Forty percent of my students have never been to a zoo, This will be the first time they see wild animals.

As they set off to high school they will be exposed to a new experience that can get them thinking outside the box about their future.

This field trip will provide the students with a bonding experience with their childhood friends, while at the same time expose them to the big world that is waiting for them.
