Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

All of my first and second grade students have been identified as being significantly below grade level in reading. They have been working diligently to reach grade level by attending my Intervention Reading Lab on a daily basis. Together we have set goals that they strive to reach. They are highly motivated and have made significant improvements recently.

My students need real books, not just photocopies of text passages.

They need to see that the phonics patterns they are learning will transfer to high-interest books that they will enjoy reading.

I want my students to see themselves as readers. These books will help them believe that they are. Books that are at their reading level will further motivate them to continue improving and working hard. My students will come to love reading with our new books.
