My Students

Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with many receiving free lunch. This is a Title 1 school where many students are receiving extra help with Math and Reading to try to get them close to where they should be for their grade.

These 8-9 year olds are very eager to learn but just don't always know how.

They are full of life and excitement! School is the place where they can go to feel safe during the day.

My Project

How can kids be expected to focus and learn when they are stuck in a hard chair? A lot of times even adults just need to be able to move around or find a different spot throughout the room.

Let's give the students a better chance to succeed!

Just being able to move around helps some students refocus on what they need to do. As I teacher I can no longer expect the students to just sit at their desks and in order to do this I need some help getting new seating. Each of these items will provide a different option for the students! The students will have the opportunity to choose what type of seating will work best for them. The yoga mats will allow the students to sit or lay in the floor anywhere in the room. The cushioned stools are for a table where students can sit without being confined to a chair. The stability balls give the students a chance to wiggle around while still safely being in a chair.

More students will be able to feel successful because they will have a chance to move around and learn in different ways. Teaching now is about reaching every student and supporting this project will help me do this.
