Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Science during the day to many different classes. We have a very active and rich curriculum that students need to remain focused to understand the new concepts.

Out of each of the 5 classes I teach, many of the 60 students with disabilities have been diagnosed with ADHD and have difficulty focusing and getting to work.

Many of the students come from low-income families and do not have the resources available to them at home, therefore there is not much reinforcement of the new learning topics once they leave the classroom. We need all students to absorb all material given to them while we have them in our room.

My Project

The students in my room will use the Disc O Sit Inflatable Seating and Balance Cushions to help them get out the extra energy they normally use by roaming around the classroom, creating disruptions. Students in the room will be able to actively participate in class discussions and activities while moving throughout the room in an appropriate manner.

This project will help improve my classroom by helping to achieve a less disruptive environment where all students in the room are able to focus and get down to work.

For the students who have difficulty remaining in their seats, this will help to build their confidence and remain on task. The overall goal is to help students succeed. This will allow all students in the room to do so.
