My Students

Developmentally 2nd grade is such an exciting group of mixed interests, abilities, and goals that I get the pleasure of teaching! This group loves to write, learn new math strategies, and boogie to a fun tune to get their wiggles out every so often.

In this class, we are a whole.

We have built a community around each other’s strengths and shared experiences.

We are part of a larger whole that celebrates inclusion and individuality throughout each grade level, with whole school celebrations each month. I am one of five 2nd grade classrooms in a Title I 2nd-6th-grade school. The work we do in this classroom is academically invigorating as we build on our community as a whole.

My Project

My students are in constant motion. Whether they're getting up to sharpen their pencils, walking to the trashcan, or bringing their work for me to check, their bodies never stop moving. While having an active class can be a positive thing for certain activities, there are times, especially during Covid, when the students need to be seated and paying attention.

Wobble seats will give their bodies the motion they need to keep their minds focused on the lesson.

Being able to get their wiggles out in a safe and controlled way will help them to pay attention and stay engaged. They will love being given the choice for a different type of seat!
