This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a lively fourth grade bunch in an Integrated Co-Teaching setting located in the Bronx. This means that my classroom has a unique mix of students with special needs and general education students. Many of our wonderful students have Individual Education Plans to meet their specific needs and to give each student strategies and supports that will help them reach grade level and participate in the 4th grade curriculum despite any challenges they may be facing.

Our class word that we use everyday is PERSEVERE; although some days it can be difficult to understand a lesson, we have to keep trying, push through and stay positive!

We call our class a community, a team, and a family. We all work together to support each other and learn not only the academics but how to be loving, caring, powerful, passionate human beings. We instill in each of our students that they can do anything they put our minds to; our school starts every morning by reciting "With these hands, with this heart, with this mind, I can do ANYTHING!" And I want each of my students to believe it!

My Project

Many students in my class can be restless, fidgety, and unfocused during lessons and classwork time. I've tried fidget toys, movement breaks, deep breathing etc, but will still often find students flipping and flopping in their chairs. These wiggles are out of frustration and can also distract the other students. I understand that it can be hard to focus through the challenges that some of my students are experiencing, and their fidgeting is out of restlessness and frustration, which is why my students need Bouncybands to relieve this.

Bouncybands give students the opportunity to wiggle their restless legs alleviating anxiety and frustration while silently improving their focus, stamina, and engagement!

Allowing students the opportunity to fidget at their desks relieves the irritation and satisfies their need to wiggle while they work! Bouncybands are also silent as to not become a distraction or disrupt other students. Bouncybands would create a healthy, engaged environment full of wiggles and work for my energetic 4th graders!
