My Students

I teach a wonderful group of third graders in a small district in Washington. My students have a variety of needs and levels of learning. Some love to read and I can't get them to put books down, some love their math and even ask for extra homework!

My students come to school eager to learn every day.

They never back down from a challenge, and the looks on their faces when they complete a difficult task is my favorite part of this job. This classroom is not just a classroom, we are a community who share in our successes and grow from our failures. While preparing them to move onto fourth grade, we also focus on having a growth mindset and how they can do good for the world, even in the third grade!

My Project

Students in my class range from eight to nine years old. Like most kids, they resist sitting still for too long. Students need an outlet for all of their energy so they are able to focus. These stools will give them an outlet for that energy.

Paired with flexible seating options already in the classroom, the new stools will always be an option for students to use around their room and at their seats.

Students love the option to move around. It increases their engagement and focus in activities, as well as the overall enjoyment of being in school. These stools are durable and can withstand years of helping students wiggle while they learn!
