Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am currently a Kindergarten ICT teacher in New York. My students all have different learning styles. I would love to offer a flexible seating environment that would allow them to wobble and move around while they do their work. The floor cushions will allow my students to focus and do their best during literacy centers and small group learning as they move around the classroom. The wobble stools will help the little ones sit more comfortably at their tables while still getting some wiggles out. As their teacher, I would like for my kids to have an opportunity to learn in an environment that fits all their needs. Flexible seatings have been shown to support students who struggle with attention and focus. According to Matthew T. Mahar, research finds that simple in-class movement activities can boost performance and that children who participate in physical activity within the classroom tend to have more on-task behavior. These seats would be an amazing addition to my classroom!!
