My Students

My school is made up of seven kindergarten classes, and I am lucky to have 1 class with twenty-fiver students. My class is made up of four English Language Learners, and five children with an I.E.P (Individual Education Plan). My school population is ten percent L learners, ten percent I.E.P students, and fifty-three percent of children are qualified for free lunch based on their family socio-economic status.

I currently have an awesome group of 25, five-year-olds, who come to school each day eager to learn and who are full of energy!

At five years old, the children are full of energy, and they enjoy learning. They love to move around, socialize, and learn! I am hopeful to inspire our earliest learners to continue a path of academic excellence!

My Project

I have a diverse group of 5 year olds in my classroom who are full of creativity, curiosity, and energy. By providing my students with Wobble seats and a bean bags, they will have more seating options throughout the day. Additionally, having an easel with wheels and a storage basket will allow me to move my teaching materials around the classroom and work in small groups. This way I will be able to teach my students from anywhere in the class and they will be able to comfortably learn in the flexible seats of their choice.

Flexible seating in a classroom gives students the chance to explore and choose the type of learning space that works best for them.

Some students learn best while sitting, some while standing, and others need to be wiggling around in a Wobble seat in order to stay engaged. These materials will also help students to be more active throughout the school day as well as improve their core and muscle strength.

Opening up the seating options by having Wobble seats, bean bags, and a portable teaching station also encourages student engagement and will help form a better classroom community. The students feel happier when they are able to move more and not restricted to chairs. Please consider helping my students wiggle and grow to their fullest potential!
