My Students

My students attend a suburban school right outside of Columbia, SC. We have a very diverse population. These students represent all different races, genders, and income populations. As a member of this community, I live among them, and am so proud to be a member of this community.

Theatre is an inclusive fine arts that welcomes all students.

I teach a class of sixth grade, and three classes of mixed seventh and eighth grade. Did I mention that our school hasn't had a theatre classroom in several years? Allowing students to have a freedom of expression with their bodies and voices will strengthen their independence and creative skills both in and out of the classroom.

My students are kind, creative, passionate, and dramatic. I am so excited to bring the immersive experience of theatre class to these students. Many of them are already "all in," and it's so exciting to watch!

My Project

If there’s anything we’ve learned from COVID this year it’s that we have to be flexible. Much of my flexible seating is currently in my garage.. and my students race to sit on the one wobble stool in my room. By adding additional wobble stools, my students who need the stability of moving around can get that! These stools are easy to clean and will be able to withstand a beating from daily classroom use. It is my hope to be able to use these wobble stools in my classroom for many years to come.
