Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach kindergarten students at a school in the Bronx. I work in a Title I school with a variety of levels and needs in one classroom, including English Language Learners. Some of them are in school for the very first time, while some of them were previously in Pre-K.

My classroom is a place where students interact with each other to learn and grow.

We are very creative, love to read books, and like to use a wide variety of sensory materials to learn our numbers and letters! Our favorite book is Pete the Cat, I Love My White Shoes. We always try our best to succeed and never give up!

My Project

Not everyone can sit and hold their focus in the same way. With flexible seating, students will be able to choose where they would like to sit and do their work. With this project, students will be able to sit on a wobbly chair which will allow them to sit and wiggle while learning. Intuitively exercising their back muscles and working out their restless energy is an added bonus!

Students will be empowered to pick a comfortable seat each day where they can focus and get their work done.

With a wide variety of seating available, students will be more focused, engaged and, in turn ,become excellent learners.
