Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Hello, I am a third and fourth grade inclusion teacher at a highly disadvantaged public school in the Bronx. 100% of my students receive free lunch and 97% of the students at my school do as well. In my classroom, we have one desktop computer that is on its very last legs and is quite old. It freezes constantly and often shuts off for no apparent reason! It is quite frustrating, especially for students who wish to type up projects they are working on. A laptop computer would help all of the students each day, and in all subjects. During writing, students could work on publishing their story on the computer, and during reading and social studies they could read passages while listening to the audio with headphones. I would also like to put math programs that I have purchased onto the new laptop for the students to finally be able to use. This will help all of the students to be inspired to do their best work. I would also like to have my students be able to present projects using the technology of the laptop computer. It is very important for students to learn at as young of an age as possible how to use technology in their lives. A laptop would benefit each one of my 25 students more than words can express.
