This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

In first grade, time spent on the rug is one of the most essential parts of the day. It is a space in the morning to gather and talk about expectations of our day, where students and teachers can come together to have discussions and debates during read aloud. A place to relay important information before letting them go independently. In our classroom, the rug functions as a space where we know whatever is going to be spoken there is of utmost importance. It is where students learn not only academically, but socially emotionally as well.
