Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Flexible seating is a great resource in the classroom. While we all know the difficulties of sitting in a chair all day working, most of my students are finding it just too difficult now. My students have an extremely difficult time staying put in one hard chair for hours at a time. At this age, it is unnatural for students to sit still in the same spot for hours at a time, as they are being asked to do. Research shows that flexible seating leads to better physical health, allows more opportunity for students to collaborate by encouraging communication, and their sensory needs are better met which helps them focus!
I want to encourage movement and comfort in my classroom so that each student can find their best learning style.
These Flex-Space Ergo Bounce chairs will be an additional resource to keep students in their seats, doing their work while also helping them wiggle and move while remaining seated (as they are supposed to do). Students move while staying seated and not walking around the classroom, disrupting others, as can happen. Giving students the opportunity to move a little will help them keep focused on the academic task at hand and be successful during these trying times. Our classroom is already 95% converted to the new seating. For those few chairs that aren’t Flex-Space Ergo Bounce chairs, sometimes students change those to the bounce chairs as they prefer those, and we don’t have enough for everyone. We really want to have a complete class set this year so that everyone will have the opportunity to wobble while we learn.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and support of public school children. When you care about students, you support equity and care about making our future better.
