Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

On Wednesdays, our class participates in a social and emotional learning lessons focused on wellness and mental health. It's helpful to have nourishing snacks, so that students can take care of their physical needs, in addition to their mental and emotional needs. They look forward to this time because it is a break from their regular academic day. Some students have even shared that it's the first time in the day that they really get to "breathe".

Wellness Wednesdays are a time to slow down and focus on our well-being.

They can connect with themselves and each other on Wellness Wednesdays because we can stop to have real conversations and ask how everyone is doing and feeling. It's so important to recognize that we are whole and complex people. Wellness Wednesdays are a special time where we can create stronger connections to our mind, body, hearts, and spirits. It's a small act that can hopefully ripple out to the rest of our day and throughout our school community.
