My Students

Our school is a beautiful neighborhood school located on the south shore of Staten Island, NY. It services students of various economic backgrounds. Students come from middle class, working families, while others struggle at or below poverty level.

We have a lot of diversity when describing our student home life.

Some students are fortunate enough to live in homes with extended families, others are living in single parent households or being raised by other family members. Some students are even part of the foster care system. The majority of our students speak English but we do have struggling ESL children and non native parents. Our school has a fair amount of children receiving services through an IEP.

It is imperative that teaching Computer Science and using computers in the classroom is a priority for all students. We must keep students motivated by offering equity for all. We are preparing our students to be leaders of tomorrow, holding jobs in fields of uncharted territory.

If students are to succeed, then technology in the classroom is essential.

The use of computers in the classroom not only levels the playing field among students, but also makes them happy which in turn, make them more productive.

My Project

Students will be thrilled to use these amazing robots to learn computer science skills and computational thinking. These robots will introduce them to the fundamentals of coding while having a great time in the classroom.

These resources will transcend learning beyond the four walls of my classroom to develop interest in future computer science, architectural and engineering fields.

Children learn best by doing and having autonomy in the activities they choose to complete. These instructional technology aides will provide hands on learning to illustrate complex computer science and mathematical concepts to program, code, build algorithms, think critically, and problem solve.
