Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The students in my school love to check out books about people with large heads like the cover illustrations in the Who Was and What Was Series of books. The images make them giggle, but they learn valuable information once they dive in. Getting more of this series of books will encourage students to learn about a variety of famous people and places that they might never have considered learning about.

Getting students to read non-fiction is critical for their success in school, but few students are truly drawn to informational books.

We currently have a handful of the Who Was and What Was books and they are the only non-fiction books that seem to fly off the upper level non-fiction shelves. We would love to have a larger collection of these books.
