This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help give us a comfy space to move and groove! We love to move around to music and need a rug to give us a warm, colorful, and inviting area to dance and play.
I teach music to children who are on the autism spectrum in New York.
The children range in age from pre-k to upper elementary. My students are enthusiastic learners, and love participating in all kinds of musical learning activities. They enjoy dancing, singing, and playing musical instruments.
My Project
Teaching early childhood music, I incorporate a lot of movement to music in our lessons. We learn a lot of songs that prompt the children to jump, dance, stomp, clap, spin, etc. These songs use a lot of action and imagination, and address bodily, kinesthetic intelligence. The children really thrive in this area, and truly enjoy themselves. In addition to movement activities, we would also like to have the children sit on the floor when playing the hand drums, as this is an easier way for them to rest the instruments instead of the drums slipping off of their laps. We could really use a nice music rug for our classroom to designate a more comfortable, inviting space for these kinds of activities. The rug would also brighten up our room, and create a more colorful learning environment.
Your donations toward our classroom music rug will make a difference for my students.
You will make it possible for them to have a brighter environment where they can move, dance, and play to their hearts content! It is my hope that the rug will become a new addition to our classroom. With your help and generosity, it can be done! Thank you in advance for everything!
