Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember when you were in kindergarten and how much you enjoyed coloring, drawing, and writing? In kindergarten it can be pretty challenging for the students to write, since it is their first experience holding a pencil and learning how to write words.

Even though, writing can be quite challenging for some of my students.

They still love to draw, color, and try really hard to write by using their own inventive spelling. In our classroom we have a writing center. Every day all of students take turns going to the writing center in groups. When they are at the writing center, you should see how creative they can be! Many will write lists, stories, words, and label pictures.

My Project

My goal is for my students to maximize their time and spend their time writing while they are at the writing center. If they have fun materials to use like white boards, colorful dry-erase markers, sight words journals, and letter writing games, I think they will be more inclined to spend their time writing. Writing is a life long skill!

Writing is such an important part of our children's education.

My students would benefit immensely by having a variety of materials in their writing center. It is important to make learning fun and memorable as possible so that awesome learning can take place. With your help we can make this happen and help build confident and amazing writers in kindergarten!
