Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

You are cordially invited! I don't know anyone who would miss out on a good art party. At our art parties we sip our apple juice, eat our cheese, and spend a fun filled hour walking around and sharing our artwork. I’m an art teacher at a vibrant, yet underfunded, NYC public elementary school. I have learned that sharing the students’ artwork as if our room was a gallery/museum has enhanced learning and boosted their confidence. I teach 25 classes and I have at least 400 students. Last year I did a printmaking project that the students went wild over! It became evident that printmaking was very engaging and it opened the door to great conversations. The students discussed their artwork critically, used their imaginations, and made great inferences. Unfortunately, I only had enough ink for one class. Our school does not have the funds to support all of our students’ needs. Your donation will give the rest of my 24 classes an experience and a party that they must not miss out on!
