My Project

Help me give my students items that will display who is home or at school today. The children will begin each day by moving their pictures on the magnetic dry-erase board from home to school. At the end of the day, the children will move their names from school to home.

The materials in my project will be used to create picture cards with the student's name and picture, for children to independently move their picture between home and school.

Children are able to process that students are either home or at school, by seeing the visuals on the board. By looking at the pictures, students are able to easily identify who is not in the classroom today by looking at the board. By doing this, students are taking ownership of attendance each day in the classroom. Little things like this also make the student feel important. At the end of the day, we could also assign a special helper to move all the names from school to home as well.
