My Students

I have the joy of working as the librarian at a school that only works with students ages three to twenty-one with severe/profound intellectual disabilities. Many of the students also have other disabilities including vision and other physical challenges. I work with all 138 students.

The motto at our school is "Those You Think Cannot... Can!" and that is something that the students show us every day.

They are some of the most amazing students that you will ever meet.

My Project

I encourage all of the teachers at my school to read to their students every day. Working with students with severe and profound disabilities can make it hard to find books that are age-appropriate but are at levels that my students can access. This series of biographies is great for teaching our students about the lives of people past and present.

This series covers the lives of people from all around the world and all different backgrounds.

It will allow my students to hear about the lives of artists, musicians, inventors, etc., from the past and the present.
