This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Word Problems, Phonics Practice, Reading Fluency... Oh, my! It's time to start the learning process!

My students are the future.

They are eager learners that want to take a stand on what they want to learn so that they can conquer tomorrow. They are a unified and accepting group that believes that everyone is capable of learning anything so long as they are willing to put in the time and effort to learn it no matter what skin color or gender. Their drive is supported by the amazing teacher collaboration that takes place at our school. Our teachers teach with the Common Core and use data to drive our lessons for the better of our students.

My Project

I plan to use the whiteboards to enhance the math and phonics learning in the classroom. These whiteboards are an effective way to informally assess student learning. The hands-on approach is appreciated by all students, especially by my kinesthetic learners.

This project will help my students practice their math strategies and phonics.

Math and reading are core subjects. When they practice their math models on their whiteboards, they show me what they individually know. When they practice their blending on the whiteboards, they have a hand in improving their fluency and spelling. I especially would appreciate using these whiteboards during small group time as I reteach the phonics lesson for those who need additional support in the area.
