This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Every day in pull-out special instruction sessions, we start with modeling. I, as the teacher model how to do a certain skill. We then do it together, and then I gradually release them to do the task on their own.
The students that I service are special needs students from Pre-Kindergarten all the way to 2nd grade.
We come from a Title I Elementary School in Baltimore City. There are about 440 students in our PK-5 school, 59 of these students receive special instruction.
My Project
A teaching center with white board in our special instruction resource room will surely help with modeling strategies and skills. My students need to clearly see the steps when blending words, analyzing sentences for comprehension, solving for equations and word problems. With a white board in the front of the room, I will be able to better model for my students. My students in turn will also have the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned by coming up and sharing with their peers. We can make process charts, anchor charts, and large graphic charts together!
This white board will help in bridging the academic gap.
Pull-out sessions will be even more effective! Can you imagine the learning that this is going to inspire? Your kind and thoughtful donation will certainly go a long way.
