My Students

The students in my classroom are 7th and 8th graders who attend a public school in Los Angeles. My students come from a culturally and linguistically diverse background. Many of them come from low income households and are faced with many challenges outside of school.

Although my students face challenges inside and outside of the classroom they are like all middle school students.

They are funny, insightful, energetic, curious, and willing to work hard. They inspire me to be a better person and teacher everyday.

My Project

My students struggle with solving multi step math problems. Many of them lack confidence and so they won't attempt math problems that involve more than one step to solve. I am asking for individual whiteboards, a whiteboard table, markers, erasers and additional resources. When my students have access to whiteboards they are more focused and are more likely to attempt these type of problems because if they make a mistake they can easily get rid of it and start over.

Individual whiteboards also make it easy for me to find errors in their work by simply walking around and glancing.

I can easily see which students are struggling with concepts. And whiteboards are FUNNNNNN!
