Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

First graders enter the school year knowing their letter names and sounds and eager to learn. We have many different kinds of learners with the same goal, which is to learn how to read and write.

My students are part of a large K-12 charter school located in a low-income community.

All students receive free breakfast and lunch. Although all my students come to school eager to learn, many of them face challenges in their home environment which therefore impedes their learning. Yet, my students continue to come to school daily with smiles on their faces and enthusiasm to learn.

My Project

We do not know if we will be starting this school year through zoom or in the classroom but providing my students with writing journals, white boards and other necessary materials to start the school year will help them feel excited about going back to school.

With these materials, my students will be able to practice writing letters and sentences, as well as develop more writing skills.

Students will feel motivated to write using markers and white boards. They will also be able to illustrate their writing in their journals. Finally, my students will be able to use their pencil boxes to keep their materials organized.
