This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Imagine....what did come first? Some say the egg, because you need the egg in order to hatch a chicken. Others say the chicken, because you need the chicken to produce the egg. But look beyond this age-old question. What is really important is HOW do we have chickens? My 31 first-grade students desire to answer this question.
Our lifecycle learning journey begins with students caring for, studying, and engaging in the incubation and hatching of 18 chicks.
Students will explore:
-What is an incubator, and how it is used
-How chickens hatch
-New chicken vocabulary
-'Egg'citing mathematics
-Visually demonstrating their knowledge of the incubation and hatching process
My students and I are requesting a self-turning incubator that will provide the necessary care for 18 chicks during the evening and weekend hours.
Please help me and 31 amazing students explore this important question. We will be unable to begin our lifecycle learning journey without your help!
