Where to Put the Ceramic Ware?

Help me give my students a place to store their clay projects. A ware cart has wooden shelves to help clay projects dry properly before they are placed in the kiln.

My Students

We are a small town school who thinks BIG! My school has roughly 300 students grades K-5. Many of my students grown up in poverty and have limited resources at home. As their art teacher, I try to provide them with opportunities they may not be able to experience otherwise.

My students are smart, creative, and love to create clay projects!

My students enjoy coming to art and learning about art history, art materials, and art techniques but clay projects are their favorite. Out of all of their art projects they create in elementary school, parents and students tend to keep their clay projects for many, many years.

My Project

Students love to create clay projects and I love to teach them! However storing clay projects can be a challenge when you teach 300 students. Clay projects take up a lot of space and need time to dry before they go into the kiln. This creates the problem of where to store my students clay ware?

A ware cart for clay projects will be a game changer for my clay curriculum.

Currently I am storing clay projects on shelves, plastic totes, and table tops which takes up a lot of space in my small classroom. A ware cart will allow me to store clay project in one space on a cart specifically designed to allow easy access to the clay projects with removable wooden shelves. The wooden shelves also provide a surface that promotes drying of the clay, unlike the metal shelves and plastic totes I am currently using.

Planning clay projects are also a challenge without a ware cart due to limited storage space. Some of my classes have to wait to create their clay project until I have someplace to store them. A ware cart will also solve this problem as the cart will be able to store at least 6 classes of clay projects in one place. This means more classes can create a clay project at one time providing more time in the school year to teach additional clay projects.
