Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a public school located in Washington Heights in Manhattan. We have a large hispanic, special education and English Language learner population. Our instructional focus is that students will use evidence to support their answers and claims so that they become strong writers, mathematicians, and engaged citizens of the 21st century. We are excited to offer many computer science opportunities in our building.

The vision at our school is that all members of the school community will be treated with equality, dignity, and respect.

We must engage students actively in the learning process while they are working to achieve their full potential as competent, respectful, socially responsible citizens. We must facilitate academic excellence by enabling all students to attain maximum academic achievement.

My Project

We are extremely excited to be opening a math/computer science lab in our school this year. We need some storage materials and seating(stools) for students when they come in to use the lab. On the shelving units, will be a variety of computer science and math materials (games, robots, manipulatives) that students will have the opportunity to interact with as well as be able to learn from. It is a brand new classroom and I want to make it as accessible as possible for the students in our school. We are fortunate to have many materials to have a successful math and computer science program but need a better display and storage system to make learning more meaningful.
