Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Where in the world?" is a question I hear almost everyday. Whether I am reading a book or teaching geography my students don't understand where different places around the world are located.

My 5th grade students attend a high poverty school.

These students are unique and each has stories to tell. One thing they have in common is they love to study Social Studies and Geography. Unfortunately, I don't have the resources to help my students fulfill their love.

My Project

These students live very sheltered lives. Some of them have never traveled outside our town. When reading or learning about different places in the world my students don't understand where these places are. They are very visual learners and need to see them located on a map or globe. This will give them a greater understanding of geography.

Have these simple manipulatives in our classroom will help the students understand geography.

They will be able to located places that we talk about in Language Arts and Social Studies. Sometimes we take the small things for granted.
