Where Do We Sit?

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an amazing group of 4th graders who eagerly participate in learning every day! They are kind, energetic and hardworking. My classroom consists of 30 diverse students. The students have different needs and learning styles. The schools that I work on is a Title One, high needs, low income school.

I strongly believe that a comfortable classroom environment has a positive impact on student learning.

Help me give my students the opportunity to sit in comfortable seats while they work.

My Project

The seat cushion will allow students to sit comfortably while they are learning. Students will use these cushions while listening to read-aloud, collaborating with their peers or reading independently. Our mat isn't big enough to fit all the students in the class, therefore some of them have to sit on the floor.

Research shows that students learn better when they are in a comfortable setting.

Flexible seating encourages students to find their best spot to stay calm, focused and productive. The cushions also are good for improving student posture and strengthening core muscles.The seat cushions appeal to students who need sensory stimulation and who need to move a bit in class without distracting others.
