My Students

Can you imagine trying to conduct a Science Experiment without the necessary materials? That's what we're facing.

My students come from a low socioeconomic neighborhood.

Over 70% of our school receives free or reduced meals. They are eager to learn and love experiencing new ways to do so. Science materials would expose the students to new tools in order to help investigate Science experiments.

My Project

There is no Science kit for our grade. We have to piece materials together. I would like for the students to participate in as many Scientific Investigations as possible. We can do that as long as we have the materials we need in order to conduct them. With these materials, we will be able to simulate the properties of waves (wave demonstrator kit), light (properties of light kit), and magnets (magnetic field demonstrator). They will learn how to construct series and parallel circuits (snap circuits). We will use the mirrors to demonstrate how light reflects. The magnet set will allow the students to be able to visit the learning center for reinforcement and/or enrichment. The different types of magnets will allow for further investigation.

Donating to my project will touch the lives of students at different levels.

These materials will benefit my struggling scientist, but will not be limited to them specifically. My goal is to have 90% of my students performing at Proficient or Advanced on our state assessment as well as all class assessments. This can be done with your help.
