My Students

I am so lucky to spend my days with an amazing group of second graders that walk into my classroom each day with an eagerness to learn!

My students come to school not only to learn HOW to read, but it is my goal to foster a love of reading in them so they can become life-long readers.

I've learned that the best way to draw curiosity, strike up conversations, lead discussions, and encourage smiles and laughter in my students is through shared reading experiences with picture books for all content areas. Their excitement to hear new stories is contagious!

My Project

Picture yourself reading a book at home. Where are you sitting? How do you feel? You're probably imagining somewhere cozy and relaxing.

There is a considerable amount of research that shows the positive effect comfort has on learning and creativity.

My sweet second graders spent the last 14 months reading, writing, and learning from home. Now that we are transitioning back into our classroom full-time, I would love for our classroom to feel more like home for them.

During our independent reading time, I want my students to have various seating choices that allow them to get comfortable and cozy so they can sit back and relax with a good book.
