Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students are always happy to come to school. For some, it is the place where they feel the safest, the most loved, or where they feel like they belong. My students are eager to learn and do their best, even when it doesn't come easy to them. These kids are enthusiastic and excited to share their lives with me.
I try to encourage my students to make smart choices.
I want them to know that even at this young age, they can make choices that will allow them to have a great day and feel good about themselves. I want them to know that no matter what their circumstance may be at home, they CAN overcome and succeed.
My Project
I don't always have time to read a good book to my students, so by having a listening center I can be certain my students have the opportunity every week to experience the adventure of a story.
When my students listen to a reader, they hear what it's like to be a fluent reader; they comprehend the story more easily than when trying to sound out the words for themselves.
By listening to a book being read to them, they can experience the freedom of becoming lost in a magical place, or in a battle of kings, or experience the life of a child like themselves. By listening to a good book, my students will soar!
